The Sheffield Foyer provides safe and secure accommodation for young people between the ages of 16 and 25 years. The aim of the project is to help young people acquire the skills necessary for sustained, independent living. During a person’s stay at the Sheffield Foyer, staff will help her/him to develop the skills required to survive independently and to help the young person to find employment, training or education advice where appropriate.
Facilities at the Sheffield Foyer include 60 en-suite high quality flats, communal televisions with cable television, pool, football and table tennis tables, gym, laundry facilities, 24 hour concierge service and CCTV, vending machines with snacks and drinks. Flats come complete with microwave, fridge, kettle, bed and bedding together with support from staff to help improve your life-skills, people who listen when things aren’t going right and help to find somewhere to live.
Upon completion of their Induction programme young people are encouraged to join the Sheffield Foyer Move-on Programme. This programme is designed to help young people in finding and maintaining their own accommodation. Whilst at the Foyer all residents are encouraged and supported to achieving their personal goals, making progress through their Personal Development Plan (PDP) which is tailored to meet individual need and is an agreed route to acquire the skills necessary to achieve independence. Project staff will assist and support each resident to learn how to budget their money, to live healthily and how to achieve their goals in life.
