Shared ownership rent
Find out how we set your rent for a shared ownership property

Guinness Northern Counties sets the rent according to the share you buy. If you buy more shares your rent will be reduced, please ask what this figure will be. The rent does not go towards buying further shares in your home.

The Association will insure the building and a charge to cover this is included in the rent, also included is a management fee. You will need to arrange your own contents insurance.

The rent is due monthly in advance and can be paid through Standing Order, Direct Debit, swipe card at the Post Office or in person at a Guinness Northern Counties office. If you cannot pay your rent it is important that you let us know immediately, as we may be able to give advice on benefits available and assist with any claims. If rent arrears continue over a period of time, the Association will take legal action. This may result in you losing your home.
