Do you pay your rent by Direct Debit?

We’ve listened to what our existing customers have told us about paying their rent by Direct Debit. They wanted help with their budgeting by knowing how much they would pay by Direct Debit each month.

We’re pleased to announce that, from 2nd April 2007, we will be introducing Direct Debit Average Payers for all our residents who pay their rent by Direct Debit.  Here we answer your questions about the new scheme.

I’m about to sign up for a Direct Debit payment agreement – what does it mean to me?

If you sign up for a new Direct Debit payment agreement on or after 2nd April, you will automatically be assigned average payments.  This means that, for 11 months of the year you will pay a set amount each month.  On the 12th month we will need to increase the amount slightly, so that we are averaging your rent payments over 52 weeks.  But don’t worry – the increase on the 12th month will only be small and, the next month, your payments will return to the previous levels, which may have to be adjusted to allow for a rent increase.

I already have a Direct Debit payment agreement – how will I be affected?

You don’t have to move over to the Direct Debit Average Payers scheme, its an optional way to pay your rent.  If you decide to switch, you’ll benefit from knowing in advance how much your rent payments will be every month.

I pay by Standing Order – how can I benefit?

If you currently pay by Standing Order and switch to Direct Debit Average Payers, you’ll no longer need to go into your bank to either increase or decrease the Standing Order amount.

If you would like to switch to the Direct Debit Average Payers scheme, please either send us an email or telephone our Customer Services Centre on 0845 605 9000 from 8am to 8pm Monday to Saturday.

For all our Direct Debit payers – both existing and new – don’t forget you will also automatically be entered into our quarterly Prize Draw with the chance to win £100 in cash!
