Twenty-two students have been awarded a Postgraduate Diploma in Housing Studies including Martyn, one of our Housing Officers from Heywood, who received a distinction in recognition of his outstanding work. Read our interview with Martyn and find out why he decided to take this course.

Dr Tim Brown, Course Leader in the Centre for Comparative Housing Research at D.M.U., said: "These excellent results highlight the hard work put in by part-time students who have had to balance work and a personal life with studying by distance learning. It is also testimony to the efforts by the C.I.H., D.M.U. staff and tutors to deliver a successful course."

Philippa Russell, Distance Learning Manager at the C.I.H. said: "The C.I.H. Distance Learning Centre congratulates the students on successfully completing their studies. Last autumn another 92 students enrolled on the course, all benefiting from distance learning’s flexible approach to gaining the C.I.H. Professional Qualification, without having to attend college, but with dedicated support from an academic tutor and the C.I.H."

The Chartered Institute of Housing Professional Diploma course offers undergraduate and postgraduate routes. It is aimed at housing employees in small organisations and students who may be unable to benefit from traditional day release courses.

The course consists of seven study modules over two years, a 2-day residential event and optional study days. For information on this course please contact the C.I.H. Distance Learning Centre on 024 7685 1789 or email dlc@cih.org or visit the website at www.cih.org/distancelearning

The C.I.H. is the professional body for individuals working in housing. Its primary aim is to maximise the contribution that housing professionals make to the well-being of communities. C.I.H. has over 18,000 individual members working for local authorities, housing associations, Government bodies, educational establishments and the private sector.
