Sheffield United players proved winners with staff and residents when they opened a new nursing home in the city.
First team players visited Buckwood View nursing home, Gleadless Road, Newfield Green, Sheffield, to meet residents and chat to staff about the new facilities.
Buckwood was built as a joint venture by Northern Counties housing association and Sheffield Health Authority to provide purpose-built accommodation for people with learning difficulties.
The home, which houses residents aged between 40 and 80, offers 18 ground-floor bedrooms with en-suite facilities in flats for either two or four residents.
Residents are encouraged to access services in the community to help them lead independent lives.
Directors from Northern Counties, health chiefs, staff and relatives of the residents mingled at the home and enjoyed a buffet lunch at the official opening.
There was also a fundraising raffle to entertain the guests.
